Who are Acoustika

Who are Acoustika?  They are three Maltese musicians with a wealth of experience who joined forces to create a unique sound - something different and original - not always original in content but nevertheless original in interpretation and execution.

Acoustika are Joseph Micallef, George Pollacco and Louis Naudi.  On various occasions different percussionists have replaced Louis Noudi for short periods.  These were Fabrizio Giorgio (now in Australia studying), Alex Debono (ka "bragolu") , the very popular Renzo Spiteri and the much missed Nicky Doublet who passed away in December 2001 at a very tender age.

Unfortunately, another blow to the music scene in Malta, Louis Naudi passed away September 2004.

History

It all started around 12 years ago when Joseph Micallef and George Pollacco teamed up as the Strings duo (being both guitarists) and played at a local tourist spot.  Later the duo was asked to play at the Mistra Village Club hotel and the then manager suggested that they add a percussionist to their line-up and play regularly over there!  It was a lucky suggestion for Louis Naudi, the third member (percussionist), who fitted so well with the then already established duo to form Acoustika (1995).

This connection with Mistra Village contributed to the trio's recording and release of a CD with their music entitled Acoustic Dream.

Why Acoustika?  The most obvious reason is that the band is completely acoustic.  Another reason is that at the time of the trio's formation the members had a crush on Acoustic Alchemy - a world famous guitar duo.
